One of Those Days...
…when you go oh oops. Yeah, I forgot to post. Blame my clients, this time.
I also didn’t watch much because I was in Pasadena. I also have a bunch of panels from Balticon to watch…
Doctor Who 1.5: “Rogue”
Bridgerton apparently exists as a fictional show in the Doctor Who universe, because of course it does. The Doctor and Ruby crash a regency era party for the fun of it.
So do a group of shapeshifting aliens called the Chuldur, who love to cosplay…and apparently have come here to act out Bridgerton. Which involves killing people so they can take their form.
Yeah, they actually use the word cosplay and I love it. In many ways, this was a classic period piece mystery, a costume drama in which they had a lot of fun.
And then there’s Jonathan Groff as Rogue…a bounty hunter who’s nickname comes from D&D. I own a die similar to that set.
And sparks that fly romantically…for the Doctor. It’s not normally in character for them to fall so hard so fast, so is there something more going on.
(Or is this Davies finally getting to do the romance he couldn’t quite get away with with the Doctor and Jack?)
The dance is amazing. The ending is equally amazing. I doubt we’ve seen the last of Rogue, but for now…for now he’s gone and it is, in some ways, the Doctor’s fault.
(And yes, the Doctor was dancing, so I really think this is a redo of that episode except with actual kissing. Proper kissing).
This episode was written by Kate Herron and Briony Redman, both are new to Doctor Who and I hope they will both come back. (I looked, they are not involved in Bridgerton).
There’s now a two part finale…
…and some sad news with the passing of William Russell (Ian Chesterton), who didn’t quite get his birthday card from the king.
