Is Portal Fantasy Dead?

I’ve been watching a show that is a reverse portal fantasy (the characters from the fantasy world come into the real world).

For a while, portal fantasy was declared dead. Certainly, you don’t see as much traditional portal fantasy anymore…the authors still working in it are having fun with the concept but taking it a little bit past where it started.

So, let’s talk about this subgenre of fantasy and where it started…where it is now…and where it might be going (Hint: It’s not dead).
